Do It Better Initiative: inclusive guidelines for the TAFF academic chapter
Join two workshops to jointly develop guidelines for inclusive and equitable participation and knowledge exchange at the academic chapter of the 2027 Tuvalu/Ireland Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels (TAFF) – and beyond.
Why this matters
Lessons from Santa Marta.
The academic chapter of the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, Colombia (April 2026), taught us a great deal. One key lesson: we need to do significantly better to ensure inclusion, give a platform to diverse voices and perspectives, and enable the equitable dialogue and knowledge exchange that a just transition away from fossil fuels requires.
The workshops aim to develop shared principles and practices that help all of us foster greater inclusion, equity and effectiveness. In parallel, we are connecting with potential organisers of the next academic chapter so that the guidelines are treated as a priority.

Who we are
The Do It Better Initiative.
The Do It Better Initiative is a bottom-up initiative. The Earth Resilience Institute is the legal entity behind the initiative.
The initiative is carried by a team of volunteers from research and civil society who give their time, expertise and energy to make the academic chapter of the TAFF conferences more inclusive. We are deeply grateful for their commitment – this work would not be possible without them.
